The Books I'm Loving
Magnificent Devices (series), by Shelley Adina
I love, love, loveyMcLove Claire Trevelyan's gadgets. I swear, when I started reading the first book, Lady of Devices, I thought I was looking at a typical romance, but in a cooler world with more brass things that go click clack. Pretty immediately, Shelley turned the opening trope into a book I simply couldn't read fast enough. So, yeah, I'm blowing through all ten books, loving her characters--especially the ones who started out as jerks and (spoiler?) turned into heroes in their own rights. Good news: Shelley has a spinoff series of cozy mysteries in her steampunk world, and I can't wait to get my hands on those. See: Mysterious Devices.
Parasol Protectorate (series), by Gail Carriger
I'd like to lead this statement with the following disclaimer: I don't much care for vampire/werewolf books.
Caveat: But I'll read about vampires/werewolves if Gail is writing them. Consequently, I read the five books, Soulless through Timeless, in short order, handed them to any friends who would sit still long enough, and then devoured Gail's particularly yummy Supernatural Society Novellas, and now I'm digging into her YA series, Custard Protocol.
Alchemy Empire (series), by Meredith Rose
Though I haven't found the ancestry links proving Meredith and I are cousins, you can't convince me it's not true. Duh--we both love steampunk, and we write it compulsively. Obvi, we're also related to Axl Rose (of Guns & Roses fame), Pete Rose (who wrote a book about how he used to bet on baseball), and the Grizzly Rose (a country dance saloon in Denver, Colorado).

Art That Inspires Me
Nilminova's Handmade Leather-bound Journals
Guys, I'm in love. I ordered one from her shop and had another made to order, and they're gorgeous -- the most inspiring art.
